Aim

Join us for this collaborative, face-to-face event where we will explore key topics relating to cancer care.  This is an opportunity for you to receive an update regarding cancer services across the North West region, with a focus on Shared Decision Making, whilst considering how we can enhance patient experience.

There will also be an opportunity to review poster presentations from across the North West.  The aim of these are to provide an opportunity to present and discuss your work, network with like-minded colleagues and share experiences in Shared Decision Making working in partnership with patients across the cancer pathway.

We welcome delegates from a variety of professional backgrounds working in roles aligned to cancer care across the region.

Content and Certification

The full agenda will be published in due course, including sessions on (STC):

  • What is Shared Decision Making (SDM) and why is it so important?
  • Applying SDM when considering frailty with a cancer diagnosis
  • The importance of SDM for those with a dual diagnosis: living with HIV and cancer
  • The Research Engagement and Collaborative Health Enquiry (REACHE project) working to integrate people with learning disabilities in research
  • The importance of SDM in the context of gaining informed consent
  • Practicalities of SDM - Tools and challenges
  • Lived experience of SDM in cancer care
  • Communications skills and how to enable SDM in practice

There will also be an opportunity to review poster presentations from colleagues across the region during the day.
